Happy Halloween!

As you probably know, we LOVE dressing up for Halloween.  Every year we pick a family costume theme. (With the exception of  three long years when I was in charge of our ward Halloween activity.  And then it was just throw something on, because I am running around crazy and a costume is the last thing I am concerned about!!!)  Any way, I haven't done that calling for years now--though I still have PTS syndrome over it.

We take turns selecting a theme, and this year it was Elle's turn.  I know you are thinking, "Elle would never choose Batman!"  and you would be right.  She wanted everyone to be Strawberry shortcake characters (First of all, Elle has already been Strawberry and Second, that would leave Zander as Huckleberry Pie and Jed as the evil Pie Man--um, no) mermaids--(fun-for the ladies, the guys, not so much), fairies (ya, right!), and lastly puppies and kitties.  We thought of doing Cruella De Vil , the crook, and two dalmatian puppies, but Elle really wanted to be a kitty.  So here is the final compromise.  And I think everyone is happy.
Meet our cast:

This boy is so stinkin' cute!  I love the "ripped" ab muscles and the super strong arms.

Elle totally fits the part!  Her costume is just dance wear she wears all the time.  We even inherited some black dance shoes that fit when we bought the house.  All we added to this costume was a black tail and mask.

I planned on wearing a different dress, but I found this dress the day of at a church run re-sale shop.  And found the ivy there as well.  They were using it to decorate their furniture that they were selling, but I ripped it down and took it to the cash register.  Splurged on the wig--definitely worth it.

Two-Face

Jed's costume was made from an old shirt and suit coat we had in our garage sale pile.  He actually lit his shirt on fire, and cut holes in the suit jacket.  He tried burning holes in the jacket, but it wouldn't catch fire.  Turns out it was made of wool--good to know if you ever need to run into a burning building.  Ditch the shirt, keep the jacket.

Happy Haunting!

Good Week

These last few days have been busy, busy, busy but through all of that... all good.
Thursday we officially closed on the house. (Frustrating till the end!!!) We can officially start counting down the days until we move out of this prison!!--35
Friday was Elle's last day of First Grade
Of course I was the one teary eyed (again)  I've come to this conclusion that I don't like endings.  Beginnings I'm okay with.

Saturday was the kids' first Swim Meet
Super proud of both my kids!  I don't know how my camera works,  and apparently wasn't actually recording Elle's events.  But this is Zander swimming 25Y backstroke.  I hope to have the video camera for next week.

and today we met at a Regional meeting where the 18th Stake in the Houston area was created.  With that creation, we ended up losing two wards from our Stake, a rearrangement in the Stake Presidency, and added a section of another ward as well as a new bishop. Ah, growth.  Very excited to have a large ward though.

Busy week

I didn't realize how busy my week was until a friend text me to check-in on life.  And I started thinking of the mosh of things that constitute a week.  (Time just feels like one big blob--with selected high lights every now and then)  I had a follow up Doctor appointment--but tests came back and luckily it wasn't as bad as anticipated and everything looks fine.  Zander had his very FIRST dental appointment.  Which went rather well considering we waited in the office an hour and twenty minutes before they could see us.  There was a little kid, about Zander's age, that had gone back before us, and you could hear him screaming clear out in the waiting room.  I did all I could to distract Zander from the sound.  So, a fifteen minute check-up later, Zander proudly walked out of the office with a Sponge Bob sticker and a little bag with a toothbrush and tube of toothpaste.

Elle lost her second tooth--finally!!  Her permanent tooth was already up behind the baby tooth so it needed to come out--like now. Jed gave her an ultimatum that she pull her tooth herself by Friday or he was going to do it.  He ended up pulling it.

So the tooth fairy paid Elle a visit leaving a pile of silver coins and some Barbie Mouthwash.  Zander keeps trying to pull his teeth out so he can have the tooth fairy come and visit him!
And we put in an offer on this house and they accepted it, so we are starting that LONG process.
